Anna Haghgooie is a Managing Director of Sandbox Industries, where she focuses on investing in healthcare innovation through the BlueCross BlueShield Venture Funds. When Anna Haghgooie became a managing director, she indicated a strong desire to sit on the Board of any health care company in which Sandbox Industries invested.  

While much of her formal education focused on her interest in business and finance, Anna Haghgooie has long had an interest in the healthcare industry.  She studied Accounting and Finance at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, where she earned her Bachelor’s of Arts.  From there, Haghgooie moved to Chicago.  In Chicago, Haghgooie had a chance to explore her passion for health care at the alternative medicine fertility center Pulling Down The Moon.  As the General Manager of Pulling Down The Moon, Haghgooie had a chance to see how medicine was being practiced in innovative new ways and she became an expert in the management of small healthcare facilities.

At the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Anna Haghgooie worked on her MBA in Entrepreneurship and Finance.  As she worked for her graduate degree, Haghgooie took an internship at Sandbox Industries.  Through the internship, Anna Haghgooie applied her knowledge of both the health care industry and venture capitalism to advise the firm on investing in various start-ups.

She serves on the Board of Directors of Change: Healthcare, ZeOmega, naviHealth, Everymove, and Axial Healthcare. Before joining Sandbox, Anna was the General Manager at an integrative healthcare start-up where she helped the company streamline operations and prepare for growth. Previously she held positions as an Associate Director of Corporate Finance at Fitch Ratings covering the Healthcare Sector and as a member of the Financial Management Program at General Electric. Anna holds a BBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and an MBA with Honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
