Sonja Hoel Perkins is a Managing Director at The Perkins Fund. Prior to that, she worked for Menlo Ventures for more than 20 years and was a Managing Director in five of the firm's funds (MV VI to MV X).

Sonja is considered one of the best performing and most senior women in venture capital, she invests broadly in all stages and areas of information technology. Sonja began her career in venture capital in early 1989 when she joined TA Associates as an Investment Analyst. She then joined Symantec in Business Development prior to joining Menlo Ventures. In 2010, she co-founded Broadway Angels, an early-stage angel investment group made up of world-class investors and executives who all happen to be women. While not investing exclusively in women, Broadway Angels has invested in several.

Sonja has invested in over 50 companies throughout her career including several which achieved multi billion dollar valuations. Prior investments include: AcmePacket (APKT); F5 Networks (FFIV); McAfee Associates (now Intel (INTC)); nCircle (acquired by TripWire); Optical Solutions, acquired by Calix (CALX); PassMark Security, acquired by RSA Security (now EMC); Priority Call, acquired by LHS Group; Q1 Labs, acquired by IBM; Recourse Technologies, acquired by Symantec (SYMC); Socialcast, acquired by VMware (VMW); Solidcore, acquired by McAfee Associates (now Intel (INTC)); and Vermeer Technologies, acquired by Microsoft (MFST). Sonja’s selected current investments and/or board seats include 1 Mainstream, 3VR, BitSight, Flurry, Gemshare, Handle, HealthTap, Jhana, Kitchit, Mee Genius,, Prism Skylabs, Strevus, and UrbanSitter.

Sonja graduated, with Distinction, from the University of Virginia and from the Harvard Business School.
