Marta Sjögren joined Northzone in 2012. Her primary areas of focus are consumer internet, marketplaces, fintech, gaming, and SaaS. Her portfolio includes Sqore, Nuday, BehavioSec, and Testfreaks. Marta spearheads Northzone’s efforts in community management and ecosystem development.
Marta’s debut to the VC world resulted from a passion for innovation and a desire to make an impact in the world. After graduating from the London School of Economics with a degree in International Relations, Marta quickly learned that ‘saving the world’ through established institutional structures wasn’t really happening, so she embarked on an experimental journey to the École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP Europe), to develop her knowledge of the business side of things through a MSc in European Business. At ESCP Marta worked on a student consultancy project commissioned by the Conservative Party of the UK, aiming to uncover the roadblocks to a healthy entrepreneurial society (Enterprising Britain, October 2007). This report marked the beginnings of a much larger effort to make Britain an entrepreneurial port of choice in Europe.
