Dafina Toncheva is a Partner of U.S. Venture Partners. Ms. Toncheva focuses on enterprise, SaaS and security software investments.
Ms. Toncheva served as a Partner at Tugboat Ventures and a Principal Investor since 2010. She joined the Tugboat Ventures in 2008. Previously, Ms. Toncheva served as a Vice President at Venrock, where she was employed for two years and focused on investments in security and technology and helped expand its software investments in the areas of SaaS, virtualization, security, infrastructure, and enterprise applications with investments such as Cloudflare and Aria Systems.
Prior to Venrock, Ms. Toncheva held roles in development and product management at Microsoft Corporation and focused on authentication systems, digital signatures, and business workflow. She worked on some of the world's most-used web services and applications, such as MSN Live ID and MS Office and co-authored several key patents. As a Software Design Engineer, Ms. Toncheva developed the first digital certificate authentication component for Microsoft's online identification system Passport and authored several key patents. After shifting to the MS Office organization in a Product Management role, she owned the design and delivery of key collaboration and security features in Office Suite and SharePoint.
Ms. Toncheva has strategic consulting knowledge gained at Bain & Company, where she worked on projects within the high-tech sector. Ms. Toncheva serves as a Director of InsideSales.com, Inc., AccelOps Inc., StarMobile Inc., and HoneyApps Inc. (Risk I/O). She served as Director of MATRIXX Software Inc. She served as a Board Observer on the Boards of Cloudflare, PGP Corporation, Imperva Inc. and RedSeal Networks, Inc.
Ms. Toncheva holds an M.B.A. from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and B.S. in Computer Science, magna cum laude, with special focus on Cryptography, Efficient Algorithms, and Database Systems from Harvard University.
